This course is designed for students pursuing a career in Accounting and Financial Management at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). In this course, the trainee (cost) accountant will be guided through relevant beginner’s, Simple Interest, Compound interest and Annuities, System of Linear Equations, Statistics and Probability. By the end of this course, students should be able to: • Calculate Simple Interest and Compound Interests and their variations. • Calculate annuities and Sinking funds. • Use Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities to solve many business problems. • Calculate, interpret, and apply the different types of indexes. • Collect, summarize, present, and interpret statistical data. • Use smoothing methods and trend analysis to forecast economic and other business variables. • Use the laws of Probability as an aid in decision making process as in the case of expected values.
